Daniel Bigler has played trombone for the past nineteen years. However, in 1995 he took a two year break in order to serve a mission for his church. Since his return, he has been the principle trombonist with the Riverside Community College Jazz Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble, the University of California Riverside Symphony Orchestra, the University of Arizona Jazz Ensemble, Studio Jazz Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, and Symphony Orchestra. With the numerous groups that Daniel has been involved with, he has been on tour to Northern California, Catalina, Washington, Hawaii, Florida, Texas, Mexico, Canada, Japan, and more.
During his community college experience, Daniel played in numerous combos. He also won auditions two years in a row to play with the IAJE (International Association of Jazz Educators) Community College Jazz Allstar Big Band. They met and performed in New Orleans and in New York. Daniel has studied trombone with Jason Jackson (Ray Charles Orchestra), Alex Henderson (No Doubt, Pancho Sanchez, Brian Setzer Orchestra), Gary Smith (who now teaches at Temple College), Phil Keen (Monterey County Symphony, the Fresno Philharmonic, and the Riverside County Philharmonic), and Tom Ervin (world renown clinician and soloist). Currently, as a student at the University of Arizona (as well as directing a combo for the Arizona Jazz Academy), he studies with Michael Becker (Tucson Symphony Orchestra), has a trombone studio of his own and plans to graduate with a Bachelors in Music Education and Trombone Performance in May of 2005. |
